Ceuta, Mexico: A coastal paradise for Biodiversity – and for ornithologists! A team of scientists from our institute conducted field research in Ceuta to study the breeding ecology and conservation of snowy plovers. Snowy plovers (Charadrius nivosus) are another example of a species in which the males care for the young, while mothers leave their families to pursue additional male partners in polyandrous relationships. The research has therefore focused on understanding the social and environmental factors leading to this intriguing behavior. In this video, you see impressions filmed by scientist Luke Eberhart-Hertel.
