Internships for students — Insights into current research
We welcome well-founded, well-prepared applications from students who would like to learn about our research through an internship. Due to high demand and limited supervision capacity, we can only offer internships in some departments and groups and only to a selection of applicants.
Preparation
There is no central office for assigning internships at the institute. To ensure that an internship matches your interests, first please visit our website to learn about our various research areas. The webpages of our various departments and research groups will help you find topics and teams that best suit your interests.
Please note that the following departments and groups do not offer internships:
- Genes – Circuits – Behavior (Herwig Baier)
- Ornithology (Bart Kempenaers)
- Neural Basis of Vocal Communication (Daniela Vallentin)
How to apply
Send a short, concise email directly to the head of your chosen department or group. Please explain why you are particularly interested in this specific research topic and how your profile might fit within the team.
Please include the following documents with your cover letter:
- Curriculum vitae and relevant certificates
- Letters of recommendation, if applicable
- An approximate time frame and possible length for the internship (it is usually advantageous if you are available for more than just a few days)
What happens next
All relevant applications will be reviewed and responded to by groups and departments taking into account their research schedules, supervision capacities, and available infrastructure.
We look forward to receiving your application and, if the timing and topic are right, welcoming you to our team.
